Deakin’s, (1-2 Sun St, Canterbury, CT1 2HX)

Felt a bit peckish after some shopping so stopped by at Deakin’s for brunch. We ordered 3 dishes to share: Chicken liver parfait w/ onion marmalade and house made brioche; smoked salmon, lemon and cream cheese open sandwich; and for dessert – pineapple carpaccio, chili, coriander and coconut sorbet.

The favourite out of the lot was the parfait, oh so smooth with perfectly caramelised onions on the side mmmmm.

The carpaccio I would rate 7/10 – it was exotically different and new I guess, good if you’re feeling adventurous and a nice and not-too-filling end to our meal.

I’m a sucker for a good smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich – the bread was little bit hard… but otherwise a good little snack.

Arteastiq, (68 Orchard Road, #03-70/72, Plaza Singapura, Singapore 238863)

I’m always up for a good fusion restaurant… Arteastiq is a boutique tea house which also serves an eclectic menu of fused asian and western flavours.

We tried out the Symphony from the East – Salted Egg Yolk Capellini – Capellini tossed with silky spiced Salted Egg Yolk Cream, served with Prawns and Thai Basil; the Stranger’s Poetry Matcha Cheesecake – served with Berry Compote and Cookie Crumbs; a Signature Teasery platter; and Truffle Sweet Potato Fries served with Horseradish Aioli.

Slightly pricey, but it was a new experience! Gave us new inspiration for fusion food at home. The desserts took a while to arrive and we could see the chefs in the kitchen really trying to perfect the presentation. Would recommend it if you’re looking for a nice afternoon of high tea, with an aesthetic interior deco to match.

Café des Amis, (95 St. Dunstans St, Canterbury CT2 8AA)

Ohhh Café des Amissss. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s actually a Mexican restaurant…

It’s an absolute Canterbury favourite of mine. You have to order the Duck breast with the Molé sauce, it is absolutely to die for. I swear I even have dreams about this dish sometimes…the meat is tender af.

Also try out some of the tacos! We ordered the crispy fried smoked haddock with chilpotle aioli and mango salsa, as well as the crab & prawn with smoked chili aioli. Our stomachs were incredibly satisfied…

Nitro Lab, (188 Bourke St, Melbourne, VIC 3000 Australia)

Made with liquid nitrogen hehehe…

It just makes me feel like I’m eating a science experiment in the coolest way.

Here I tried their 2 scoops of Belgian Chocolate and Hazelnut gelato and a syringe (don’t worry they’re clean and made for food purposes) of chocolate syrup. 🙂

Côte Brasserie(2 Longmarket, Parade, Canterbury CT1 2JS)

Everyone knows us Pathless Traveller girls love our food, and Côte’s french inspired menu is affordable yet fancy. They have set menus of 2 to 3 course meals where you can mix and match, and they also have a wonderful à la carte menu.

We ordered the Chicken Breast with basil, potato purée and sauce vierge; Sliced smoked salmon with dill, shallots, baby capers and crème fraîche dressing with toasted sourdough bread; and the Roasted Duck breast (served pink) with gratin potato and a griottine cherry sauce.

Camden Food Market, London

We adore food markets. Especially ones with variety. Camden market is no exception.

If you’re down for tasting everything (like us!) make sure to share or order small portions.

Some of our favs:

We had a taste of the Taiwanese Bao buns with braised pork from Cute Buns. They’re these really small two-three bite delicacies. The buns are so soft you just wanna bury your face in them.

Try out Only Jerkin’s Caribbean mango, coconut and honey fried chicken in cream soda batter with a side of fries and purple coleslaw, topped off with their signature gravy. Delicious! The Asian in me had to hold myself back from asking for steamed rice…

Overall: 10/10Head over to Chin Chin Labs if you want to witness an ice cream store that blends sugar and spice and everything nice, with a sprinkle of science. The shop uses clouds of liquid nitrogen to whip up your dessert. Plus, they switch up their flavours every week.

We tried their Warmie ice-cream sandwich and it was reallllyy good.

Heads up, don’t sit by the tree. Try and sit in the shade to avoid the birds and their lovely dropping surprises…

Dishoom King’s Cross, (5 Stable St, Kings Cross, London N1C 4AB)

Was invited to Dishoom for a friend’s birthday party having never heard of it before. As I entered the main doors I was blown away by the vintage deco, high ceilings, the enormity of the restaurant itself and the fact that it was packed!

We ordered several sharing platters including the Chicken Berry Biryani, Sheekh Kebab, and the House Black Daal. Amazing. Would 100% recommend to anyone who loves Indian cuisine or spicy food.

Carluccio’s, (14 Gravel Walk, Canterbury CT1 2TF)

One of those drop in when you feel type places. Carluccio’s has a very English feel for a place that serves Italian. Great for groups and families.

We were in the mood for pasta as you can see… here we have the Spaghetti con Polpette di Pane (6/10), Spaghetti Vongole (6/10), and the Penne Giardiniera (7/10).

I would say that if you need a quick dine and go, this is your spot. Prices and portion sizes are pretty reasonable too.

Pho, multiple UK outlets

I’ve ordered from London Westfield, Stratford, and Brighton outlets; and the food is always of the same consistently high quality.

Pho is one of my favourite easy go-to’s for simple and affordable Vietnamese cuisine.

Pictured above is the pho gà (chicken breast in chicken stock) and the cánh gà crispy chicken wings. So good. They also offer vegan and gluten free options.

Soft Serve Society, (Unit 35 BOXPARK, 2-10 Bethnal Green Rd, London E1 6GY)

Oooohhh what can we say about Soft Serve… It was a little shop of surprises. The menu was quite limited, but everything on it was dayummm good. If you’re into premium ice cream sundaes then this is your place.

We shared the limited edition vanilla with chocolate brownies, Oreo sprinkles and Soft Serve’s very own chocolate sauce.
